Arduino Day 2026 - "Pau que Explica"

2026-05-01
Luanda, Angola

2nd place in a 6-hour hackathon with a project called "Pau que Explica" ("The Cane that Explains") - a name born in the heat of the moment, but a serious idea: a smart cane to help visually impaired people and the elderly navigate more safely day to day. In just a few hours we put together a working MVP with obstacle detection, health monitoring, and real-time feedback - intense, improvised, and full of live debugging, exactly like a hackathon should be. What we're thinking about for future iterations: computer vision to recognize potholes, obstacles, and even familiar objects (like shoes); logging routines and mobility patterns; an alert system for configured contacts; and full integration with a real-time web dashboard. Thank you to TECMICRO LDA for the opportunity and to the whole event team.
